We finised our Lands End to John O'Groats! Wooo woop.

We pulled upto the famous sign post at 13:00 22 August, got the
obligitory photo and headed off again, there's not much else there to
be honest so now it's just a long drive home. Can't wait to get to my
own bed!

Lejog Update

The ride is going well, the legs are in constant pain and the bums
aren't pretty but we're not in the slightest regretting it. We're just
starting day 7 this morning (Saturday). So only 1 more week after today.

We met up with Dave on Thursday night at the pub where we were kindly
provided with a hoody each which keep us warm and comfortable after a
hard 70 miles riding :-).

Whos Idea Was This Anyway?!

Felt ok this morning and set off at about 9:45. The weather didn't look too promising and sure enough started to drizzle quite early on. It wasn't too bad though coz it kept us cool.
We made it to Tavistock about 1:45 with shakey legs and met Howard there who filled our water and gave me some more welshcakes. We had a nice pasty from the original pasty shop too. Very nice.

From here it was 20 miles to Moretonhampstead but it was on the other side of Dartmoore. This is suposed to be the hardest part of the trip and fair do's it was tough. The hills were steep as and were in the clouds so we didn't have much to look at.
The hills down were just as steep as the ones up which kept us smiling, until we got to a sharp corner and found out how much understeer you get on these tyres. Eek!

Crossing dartmoore was a killer on the legs but we were chuffed having done it and still able to carry on today.

We found the hostel but no one was in so we let ourselves in, then so did everyone else who turned up. Spent the evening then talking to the other guests and eating.
It's something I miss about traveling - staying in hostels talking to random people and finding out where they're from and where they're going.

Anyway. Must dash, in Exeter right now 12 miles in to day 3. Laters.

Le Jog Blog - Day 1

Had a good nights sleep at the John O'Groats youth hostel and then had a nice cooked breakfast served at 7:30.

We got down to Lands End about 9ish, had the obligitory photos and set off. Things were going really well and I came to the conclusion I really liked the new road bike I got for this trip as I went over something that punctured my front wheel. We pulled over and noticed a 'Gigabyte Computers' (ha ha), put a patch on the inner tube and set off again. The patch didn't last long and my tyre was flat again so we went to put the spare inner tube in but found I'd got the wrong size. Doh. Anyway thinking like Macgyver we stuffed it in anyway but didn't inflate it too much, we got to the end then without any more problems dispute Luke riding into pidgeon!

Howard picked us up in Par and drove us back to St Austell Parish Church we're staying tonight. It took us a while to find it but when we did the lady with the keys was very nice and showed us round.
A Chinese and 10 welsh cakes later I'm completely ready for some sleep.

Hiya, Nathan here, the fatter of the two doing this crazy cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats. First off, cheers to Capstone for the publicity and the sponsorship.

To save me filling this post with the history and info about Gigabites (where the sponsor money is going) and to save me some time which I don't have, I'll point you to a few links:

What I will say that those links don't is that I think Gigabites is a very much needed project in Bargoed. I enjoy working with all the young people that come in, from the ones that say 'please' and 'thank you' to the ones that throw chairs at you. Gigabites isn't just there to give them somewhere to go but to offer them opportunities and experiences that they wouldn't otherwise get, we're also there to offer support and advice which we try to give them without them realising it.

So please sponsor us, it does mean a lot, and will encourage us to keep cycling!

Meet Nath Oakes & Luke Oates (no relation). They're planning a cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats.

Why, oh why?
The plan is to raise money for Gigabite Youth Project. Gigabites is a drop in centre for young people aged between 11 & 25, based in South Wales.

We'll be tracking their progress and providing them with tea and biscuits along the way.

Recently, we blogged you about our £10 ladies Hoodies
The reason why they're £10? An ever-so slightly off print.

Bargain.

However, upon closer inspection of these hoodies we discovered that only a small ammount of them are actually misaligned.

Still - we're selling all of them at £10. So, fancy a lucky dip? Most of these are perfectly fine, and the rest are still great!
